Sticking around in Gloucester for the summer or live locally? We’ve put together a list of fun events and activities happening over the next few months so you can plan your time, and make some memories while university is out…
Gloucester Tall Ships
Across the 25th-27th May you can see the incredible Tall Ships in Gloucester – an event not to be missed, especially if the sunshine decides to make an appearance. It’s a celebration of the city’s incredible nautical history, and there is bound to be a good crowd down at the docks. With music, street food, vintage fairground rides and more, you’ll have a brilliant day out!
Funhouse Comedy Club
Looking for a good laugh? Head to Gloucester Brewery on the 28th May for a line-up of four comedians bringing jokes, anecdotes and more – Danny Ward, Tom Glover, Nail Cantillion and Rick Goodman will be entertaining for the evening, and tickets are just £10 which is really good for a cheap, student-friendly night out.
Blackfriars Yoga Session
Do you need to stretch out and relax a bit? Enjoy an amazing yoga session with Dr Julia Frearson; it’s a 75 minute lesson, including breathwork and intention setting, and there is an option to do this chair-based too. The £15 ticket price includes a cup of herbal tea and protein ball for after the session, which takes place in the tranquil setting of the Blackfriars Priory.
Eco Market
Head to Roots Coffee and Community and shop from plenty of eco-conscious stalls from 10am until 2pm on 22nd June; from gifts to crafts and sustainable swaps, there will be loads to choose from. Shopping small and helping the planet at the same time? What more could you want!
Hundred Watt Club
Looking for something a bit different for a night out with friends? On 28th June you can enjoy an evening of burlesque at the Gloucester Guildhall – tickets are under £20 and dressing up in your best vintage glamour is highly encouraged! There’s a show, with comedy, dancing and circus routines, and a lot of mature themes. Get ready for something that will truly blow you away…
Shake It Up
If you love Shakespeare, improv, and good fun, then this is the afternoon activity for you. Coming to Blackfriars on 14th July, with tickets priced at £16, you’ll get to see a group of thespians create a brand new Shakespeare-esque play on stage right in front of your eyes. Audience suggestions are very welcome, apparently.
Three Counties Food Festival
Around a 40 minute drive away in Malvern you’ll find the Three Counties Food Festival, the perfect Summer day out taking place on the 27th and 28th July. Tickets are £12 and there will be over 160 food and drink stalls. Celebrity chefs will be offering daily demos in the Cookery Theatre, and there will be live music, BBQ demonstrations, sweet treats, street food, gifts, crafts and so much more to enjoy.
Hopefully you’ll have some good ideas for planning a Summer of fun with what’s on in Gloucester over the next few months.
