Making sure you factor in fun activities during your busy student schedule is a must for keeping your morale and motivation at an all-time high. It can be difficult moving to a new area and not knowing what’s happening, but we’ve rounded up some fun upcoming things to do in Gloucester in October and November to help you out!
Paranormal Investigation at the New Inn, 14 October
If you’re looking for something spooky, head to the New Inn pub for their paranormal night – tickets are £35 which includes tea, coffee and a carvery dinner as well as a tour around the supposedly haunted rooms, attics and cellars… The pub is just 15 minutes on foot from our Blackfriars Residence.
Hocus Pocus Outdoor Film Screening, 25 October
Halloween lovers rejoice – and head to Glocuester’s temporary outdoor cinema at Dowty Sports & Social. Tickets are £14 and you can get here by bus in 40 minutes, or split a 16-minute taxi with your friends/flatmates. Bring your own snacks, and take a blanket so you don’t get cold…
Blood n Bones Ball, 28 October
This spooky club night will definitely get you in the Halloween mood, but the price isn’t scary – tickets are just £7.50 and this promises to be an epic night of music, drinks and drag! Taking place at Jax, you can walk there in just over 10 minutes from Blackfriars.
Pizza & Pottery Night, 29 October
After an alternative night out? If clubbing isn’t for you, head to Dixie Dot Crafts at the Kingsway Centre – you can get there by taxi or public transport, and you’re in for a treat. Pizza is provided and you can bring your own drinks (alcoholic or otherwise) then just pick your item, decorate it and voila! A fun night out for £20, perfect for relaxing with your friends or flatmates.
Gloucester Continental Street Market, 10-13 November
Located in the city centre, you can expect to find all sorts of food, treats and crafts from around the world – from steaming Pad Thai noodles to mouthwatering Turkish delight, the market is an absolute delight for the senses and not to be missed. Even if you don’t buy anything, it’s a great (free) way to spend a couple of hours in Gloucester between study time!
ABBA Bingo Wonderland, 18 November
With tickets priced at just £10, do not miss this fantastic night out – it’s something a bit different from your usual club night but with deals on drinks, silly prizes to be won and of course a plethora of ABBA hits being played throughout the night it’s set to be a fantastic event. Tie-dye, flares and glitter are highly encouraged… The event is on at Buzz Bingo, a 15 minute walk from our Gloucester student accommodation.
Hunting Killers, 30 November
Join former police detective Mark Williams-Thomas of Netflix fame for an evening which will provide you with a unique insight into the mind of a serial killer, as well as discussing why so many of us are drawn to these stories and cases. Tickets are £20, and if you’re a true crime fan then you don’t want to miss this; the talk is taking place at the Guildhall on Eastgate Street, less than 15 minutes from Blackfriars on foot.
It’s time to make memories during your university experience with these upcoming things to do in Gloucester… go forth and have fun!
