Being a student isn’t all about cramming for exams and working constantly; there’s fun to be had too and if you’re studying in Gloucester, we’ve rounded up some fun (and budget-friendly) things to do in the early months of 2023. Enjoy!
Museum of Gloucester Behind the Scenes Tour
If furthering your knowledge and satisfying your curiosities is on your to-do list for 2023, join the Museum of Gloucester for a £10 behind the scenes tour. A guide will take you around, answer questions, and show you all the hidden artefacts which aren’t on display for the general public… This is definitely something different to do, and it’ll cost you less than the average takeaway or night out! Taking place on January 14th and March 23rd.
Drag Bingo!
On January 10th, head to Warehouse 4 for Drag Bingo with Misty Monique and Demeanor McCall – it’s sure to be a night jam-packed with laughter, some good old-fashioned bingo and plenty of glamour. Tickets are just £6 which covers entry and three games of bingo with some exciting prizes to be won. It’s definitely a change from your Nan’s style of bingo!
Switch Wednesdays Welcome Back Party
Head to ATIK Gloucester on the 11th January to kick off the new year (and new term!) with a bang at their welcome back party event – tickets are just £5.50 and drinks start at just £2 as well. It’s the perfect way to jump back into the student lifestyle after a cosy Christmas at home…
Agatha Twisty and the Murder in Pantoland
He’s behind you… That’s right, pantomimes don’t end at Christmas and you can still find them going on in the new year. Showing at the Kings Theatre on January 19th through January 21st, students can get tickets to this fun and unorthodox pantomime for just £6. It’ll be a complete laugh, and the perfect way to spend a fun (and cheap) night out with your flatmates to really round off the festivities.
The Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club
Head to Stroud, just 15 minutes away from Gloucester by bus, on February 3rd for a fantastic club night with Craig Charles himself. Tickets are £24.50 each so possibly at the higher end of your student budget for a night out, but it can be worth forgoing other generic nights out for something so spectacular. This will definitely be a night to remember, and it’s likely to sell out so if you are interested, don’t hesitate!
Funhouse Comedy Club
Happening at Avenue on Bristol Road, just a 20 minute walk from our Blackfriars Residence student accommodation in Gloucester, this is set to be a laid back but brilliant comedy night giving you the chance to have a laugh with your friends and/or flatmates. Tickets are just £11 so they won’t break the bank if you’re looking for things to do in Gloucester in the new year…
There’s plenty happening in the new year in Gloucester to get you back into the buzz of being at university and help you curate that work-life balance we all so desperately need!
