Looking to save a bit of cash but still have fun with your flatmates? A cocktail night at your student accommodation is the perfect idea – and you can theme your cocktail creation around your course to make something which really reflects who you are! You might have seen this idea going around on TikTok, and we’ve got some great ideas for you below…
Themed cocktails for nursing students
As a nursing student or qualified nurse, chances are you’re going to see some blood at some point! You can make any sort of red cocktail, and pass this off as blood for your course/job themed cocktail night. For an added touch, buy some fake ‘blood bags’ or pouches online to present the drinks in – you can pick these up for just a few pounds. So what are some red cocktails you could opt for?
- Woo Woo: 1 part Peach Schnapps, 2 parts Vodka, 4 parts Cranberry Juice
- Bloody Mary: 1 part Vodka, 5 parts Tomato Juice, 1 tbsp Lemon Juice, with a couple of drops of Tabasco and Worcestershire Sauce (with celery salt and black peppers if desired)
- Pomegranate Spritzer: Prosecco mixed with Pomegranate Syrup (you can make your own by boiling pomegranate juice if need be)
Themed cocktails for art students
If you’re an art student, you’ve got it pretty easy when it comes to creating a themed cocktail linked with your university course. You can go for anything, and name it after a work of art that uses mainly that colour. But if you want to be a little bit more creative, here are some ideas…
- Bellini: Prosecco mixed with Peach Schnapps or Peach Puree (named after artist Giovanni Bellini)
- Elderflower Collins: 1.5 parts Vodka, 1 part Lemon Juice, 1.5 parts Elderflower Cordial, 5 parts Soda Water – serve in a glass with a clean paint brush inside to reference the glass of water used to clean a brush in between paint colours
Themed cocktails for science students
This one is pretty broad, but if you study some sort of science then why not buy pretend beakers and flasks to present your themed cocktails in? Then you can go wild with pretty much any cocktail – although bright ones tend to work best, as they look like the result of some crazy science experiments! Here are some ideas…
- Cosmopolitan: 2 parts Vodka, ½ part Cointreau, Cranberry Juice, Lime Juice
- Blue Lagoon: 1 part Vodka, 1 part Blue Curacao, 4 parts Lemonade
- Screwdriver: 1 part Vodka, 2 parts Orange Juice
These are some really basic ideas to get you thinking about what cocktail would match up with your chosen field of study. If you study English, for example, you might make a cocktail named after a famous author; animal care students could add animal-shaped sweets to basic cocktails to jazz things up, and law students might name their cocktail after a famous piece of case law! You’ll definitely find some more ideas on social media, and if you do make any of these be sure to tag us over on Instagram…
