As a student, you’re probably always looking for ways to make your money go further – buying fewer clothes, meal prepping, walking instead of taking taxis… and that’s all great but what if we told you there are some fun and easy ways to make some money during your studies, that don’t take up the same amount of time as a part-time job? Read on to find out more…
Playing games
Yes, it’s true – playing games on your phone can literally earn you cash (or vouchers). By downloading and playing games through apps like Swagbucks and Tester Buddy, you can earn points which can then be converted into vouchers or cash. This is a super easy way to get a little bit of extra pennies on the side; it won’t get you big bucks, but it’s a fun way to increase your budget.
Mystery shopping
Being a student is the perfect time to be able to do mystery shopping, as there are often plenty of opportunities available for you to go into stores and see if they ask for age ID when purchasing restricted products like alcohol, e-cigarettes and so on. There is also general mystery shopping too, where you may be asked to take photos of displays or see how many of a certain product are in stock. You get paid for your time and reimbursed for the products, which you get to keep or donate to a food bank, so it’s a win win!
Sell your old clothes
Vinted is really having a moment, and for good reason. It’s super easy to sell your old clothes, unused make up, books and more – meaning less products clogging up landfills and more money in your pocket. Another huge win… just try not to spend all your earnings on there.
Tutoring
Did you excel in your A-levels or other qualifications before getting to uni? Consider using your academic prowess to tutor younger students and help them pass their exams – it’s a great way to give back, and earn some money in the process. You can often do this online without having to leave your cosy student accommodation, too!
Babysitting or pet sitting
You might need a DBS check, so definitely look into this, but looking after babies and pets for people can be a great way to earn a bit of extra money as a student. Babysitting is a great chance to catch up on assignments when the little ones go to bed – and dog sitting, for example, will give you a reason to get out for a nice walk in the fresh air. People often pay really well for these services, so it’s well worth keeping an eye out.
These are just a few ways you can earn some extra funds as a student, when money can often be a little tight. You’ll have some spare cash for nights out, treats, new clothes and more – without having to commit to a part-time job which takes precious time away from your studies.
