We know it’s supposed to be Spring, but a lot of the country is being hit with rainy day after rainy day – so what do you do when you can’t get out and about in the sunshine because you’re more likely to need wellies, an umbrella and a rain mac? We’ve got some ideas to help if you’re feeling a little cooped up in your student accommodation!
Spring cleaning
Just because the weather isn’t giving Spring, it doesn’t mean you can’t get out all your cleaning products and give your accommodation a good clean. Vacuum everywhere, wipe the inside of the fridge, clean the oven, declutter your wardrobe… there are so many things you can do to refresh your space. It can be so easy to forget to stick to a cleaning schedule, which is why a big deep clean is sometimes necessary. Stick some of your favourite tunes on and get it done!
Box set binge
Treat yourself to an afternoon of bingeing your favourite TV show – or a new one! Gather your favourite snacks, ask your flatmates if they want to join you, and see how many episodes you can get through. From classics like How I Met Your Mother and F.R.I.E.N.D.S to newer shows like Fool Me Once and Bridgerton, it’s a wonderful way to spend a rainy day as a student.
Catch up on studying
We know, we know – but sometimes if there’s nothing better to do and no sunny fresh air to be had, spending some time catching up on your university or college work is the best thing to do. Whether it’s working on upcoming assignments, prepping for an exam or just getting ahead with some reading for future modules, you’ll feel happy you’ve taken the time to do so! Even sitting and making a plan of what you need to do going forward is the perfect student’s rainy day activity…
Get baking
Politely ask your flatmates to get out of the kitchen (or let them do the washing up…) and bake something sweet for everyone to enjoy. From gooey chocolate cake to flavoursome flapjacks, there are so many recipes you can try. Even a box cake mix will give you something fun to do while it’s raining outside – and if you get to enjoy your bakes warm with a cup of tea, it’ll be just what you need while sheltering from the storm.
Try a home workout
Normally like getting your steps in? Try a home workout instead – from squats to yoga to simply walking on the spot while you’re watching YouTube, there are plenty of ways to burn off some energy and get your heart pumping without having to even leave your accommodation!
There you have it – some rainy day activities for students, for those no-class days when it’s pouring down outside and you can’t think of what to do. Thank us later…
