We know it’s only November, but it is halfway through November and Christmas is now less than 6 weeks away. Where has 2023 gone?! With that in mind, here are 7 cheesy Christmas movies available to stream right now for free on Channel 5 (My5), to get you right into that festive spirit…
A Very Merry British Christmas
What could be more charming than this?! An architect crosses paths with a personal shopper, hoping to purchase the perfect Christmas gift for his girlfriend (also his boss’ daughter, naturally) before the big day. That’s pretty much the only information available about this one, which means it’s bound to be awfully cheesy and one you can laugh right the way through.
A Gingerbread Christmas
This one has an IMDB rating of 5.9/10 but in our defence, we didn’t say these free-to-stream Christmas films would be any good! It looks harmless enough, following Hazel to her hometown to celebrate the festive season with the family – where she has an unexpected romance with a contractor her dad has hired to do some work at the family bakery. Sounds like it’ll tick every ‘Hallmark movie cliché’ box, right? Grab your flatmates and have a cosy night in at your student accommodation to watch this one; you could even bake your own gingerbread.
Haul Out The Holly
A real feel-good story, this one starts with Emily visiting her parents for the holidays to find out they’re actually going away – so the neighbourhood pulls together to ensure she still has a happy Christmas…
Christmas Reservations
At least this one stars someone you might have heard of – Melissa Joan Hart, best known for playing Sabrina the Teenage Witch back in the day. She’s an events manager in this cheesy Christmas movie, working at her family’s lodge, when her high school sweetheart (now a widowed father!) turns up to stay for the holidays. Who knows what could happen next!
Christmas at the Alpaca Farm
New for 2023, you guessed it, this one is set at (on?) an alpaca farm – it follows fashion designer Jess and single dad Andrew as they try to bring some Christmas joy to the farm. This one definitely sounds fun, and it’s a bit different to your usual festive movies for sure…
Soul Santa
This one has a few more layers to it than the others, perhaps – a business man gambles away the mob’s money, and ends up disguising himself as Santa in the mall. Crime and Christmas?! Sign us up. Plus, the two main characters are actually married in real life!
Christmas in the Highlands
In this one, we follow a sales manager from New York all the way to the snowy Scottish Highlands; she’s on a mission to acquire a limited edition perfume for an Earl, but (as with many cheesy Christmas movies) she falls in love along the way.
They’re hardly blockbusters, but these seven free to watch Christmas films on Channel 5 are bound to get you giggling into the festive spirit as we head towards the end of term and things start to wind down. Enjoy!
